Carracosta, the sea turtle pokémon.
Carracostas are a species of ancient pokemon, believed to have inhabited the planet at least from the Triassic period, which the eldest fossils of Carracostas are dated from.
It spends most of the time swimming in the sea, but are often seen on the coast where they lay their eggs and raise their children. Their offspring often varies from one to five eggs, however not all of them will hatch. The juvenile turtles are called Tirtouga, which don't have their hind legs fully developed, so after they hatch from the eggs they have to creep on their bellies to reach the ocean. Once there, they are agile and graceful. Though slow on earth, their strong jaws and upper fins are a good protection from possible predators.
Their diet consist mostly of kelp, but they also eat crustaceans, molluscs and echinoderms like Krabbys, Shellos and Lilleeps.
Though their shell has a bone skelleton as support, their rock like features are actually from ectodermal origin, made of a strong secreted protein and mineral deposit.
Oh boy, look a staryu! And other pokémon!
